I like to try out large paintings as small paintings first. Here is an example. This painting may not be at it's best as a small 12 x 16 painting. I will probably do a large 24 x 30 version of this with some minor changes. The larger size allows me to do more detail which will improve this tremendously.
I haven't posted anything in a while but here is something new. This painting was taken from a photo here in Chicago. I like to take my photo references around lunch time. That way you can find people trying to do various things from socializing, working, eating, and relaxing, all at the same time.
Another painting from the series of woman reading. If you look real close, you can see pencil lines outlining some of the shapes on the figure. Something I do differently than most painters, I draw on top of the paint and then rework it.
