The top image is a larger work (24 x 30) done from the successful smaller (12 x 16) work. I try to keep the same energy and looseness in the larger work that I had in the smaller one. The larger format allows for more detail especially in the figures.
These are both great! So very interesting to see them both together.

ReplyDeleteI'm a figurative painter as well and really like your approach. It will be fun to follow your blog... now that I'v found it!
I learned a lot from him. He's great at teaching. I never took his workshop but rented studio space next to him for about 6 or 7 years.
ReplyDeleteI really like your cityscapes and figurative - particularly the gestural suggestions of the figures. I also enjoy painting the figure - so challenging!
