  Reader #79 is part of a series.  The subject of the female figure reading is one that has been done many times in art before.  By repeatedly doing this subject over and over, I hope to add something different to the idea.

  Trains and Buildings #2 is part of a new series.  This painting is a cityscape but also a large representation of transportation.  These train tracks run through downtown Chicago on a summer afternoon.  In this color scheme, just to try something different, I used a combo of yellow-green, red-orange, and blue-violet.

  NYNY #16 is part of a series.  Although this image is part of the series of New York city paintings, it could be from any major city.  I try not to include any major identifiable landmarks in these cityscape paintings.  Hopefully, the painting can stand on it's own.

  Reader #78 is part of a series.  Part of the challenge of painting the figure is the background/figure relationship.  Some artist have spent their entire career exploring this problem.  This figure was taking her lunch break in an outdoor area which is  all concrete.  I find many references in this area for the figure reading, but the background doesn't give you much to work with.

  NYNY #15 is part of a series of  New York cityscapes.  This image came from Midtown in the late afternoon.  My first paintings of this series were done from early spring references when the weather was still chilly.  You can feel this atmosphere from the painting.

  Beach #29 is part of the series depicting the human figure,sand, and surf.  This is only the second of this series which shows the human figure in the water and not on the beach.  I plan to do more for next year, weather permitting.

NYNY #14 is part of a series.  All the paintings in the series are depictions of New York.  Most the  New York City themed paintings I've done are in cold weather.   A contrast to the usual sun-drenched atmosphere of the other cityscape paintings.

  Reader #76 is part of a series.  All the paintings in this series depicts the female figure reading in some form.  The figure in this painting was reading during her lunch break.  The location is an area between two large office buildings which is made up entirely of concrete.  You wouldn't be able to tell it by this painting, but on a nice day as many as 100 people gather in this area during lunch.

Reader #75 is part of the series to do with the female figure reading.  There are a few spots inside the loop of downtown Chicago where people go on their lunch break to relax and read.  This setting is a botanical garden  on Wells Street.

   Reader #74 is part of a series illustrating the many different ways a human figure can hold and read a book.  This figure is sitting near the entrance of an outdoor music theater here in Chicago.  Many people come there to sit and read during their lunch breaks in the summer.

 NYNY #13 is part of a series of paintings to do with New York City.  These pedestrians had just arrived at Grand Central Station and were heading off to work on a chilly spring morning.   Our eyes are trained to study someone's more than, say, a building or car.  Therefore, I downplay all the details in the face of figures to keep them from being the focal point.
