Cityscape #3
This is a small cityscape painting that was later turned into a larger (36 x 48) painting. The larger version is almost complete. If I have a large painting that I think isn't turning out so well, I will put it aside and hopefully find the answer to it later.

Chicago Merchantile Exchange
Sometime ago I was commissioned to do a large painting of the Chicago Merchantile Exchange. This painting is a small sketch of what the larger painting might look like. I will show the client this sketch as an example of what direction I would be heading in.

Coming and Going #41
This is a painting from the series of people coming and going. As far as titles go, I try to keep it simple and title each painting with numbers. Don't know why, but I never put much thought into titles.

Coming and Going #43
This is a smaller cityscape painting (11 x 14) than the others. I like to simplify these busy scenes into simple shapes and only add detail to my main area of focus. Which in this case, was the lady in the red dress.

Beach #6
I have been trying to organize some of these smaller beach paintings into a larger painting. They haven't come together as easy as I thought they would. I am trying to arrange the figures so that they're interacting with each other. So that the painting could have some sort of narrative going on with the figures.

Reader #20
This painting was done from a photograph taken back in the summer. There are a few great locations in Chicago where people go during their lunch break. In one lunch break it easy to get 20 or so good reference photos.

Early Sunday Morning
This painting came from some photos I took early easter morning. I choose that day because downtown looks empty, only buildings, bridges, and a few cars. Luckily, I had good sunlight for that day.

I like to take paintings that I did a few years ago and redo them. For example, this painting I attempted to make last year and it didn't turn out so well. I tried this painting again recently and it turned out a lot better.. This process shows proves to me that I am moving in some direction.
